All three major networks in the US reported that a 15-member committee of experts at the CDC has created a priority list of who should receive the H1N1 vaccine. Those who are most vulnerable at the top of the list including pregnant women; those in contact with babies, children and young people; healthcare workers and emergency personnel; and adults with underlying condition. The CDC chose the strategy as there is a possibility that the epidemic will be peaking within four to six weeks of the vaccine becoming available but admits there is potential for confusion. The priority list totals around 159 million people out of a population of 300 million in the US and the CDC expects120 million doses of the vaccine to be available by the end of October.
