There are new health concerns about heartburn drugs and hip fractures. A new study of almost 170,000 patients found those who had taken a dose a day of acid reducers like Zantac (ranitidine, GlaxoSmithKline), Nexium (esomeprazole, AstraZeneca), Prilosec (omeprazole, AstraZeneca), and Prevacid (lansoprazole, TAP Pharmaceutical), even for as little as two years time, raised their risk of fractures by as much as 20 to 30%.
