최근 미국에서 개최된 제60회 미국심장학회(ACC: American College of Cardiology) 연례회의에서 젊은연구자상 최종 5인 (Young Investigator Awardee)에 서울대병원 순환기내과 양한모 교수(심혈관센터 김효수 교수 연구팀)가 선정됐다.

양 교수의 논문(논문명 : Paclitaxel Itself Induces Drug-resistance to Paclitaxel in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells and Reduces Its Effect of Suppression of Neointimal Hyperplasia after Angioplasty)은 관상동맥질환의 치료에 많이 쓰이는 Paclitaxel-Coated Stent의 Paclitaxel 성분이 혈관평활근세포의 저항성을 유도해 스스로의 효과가 감소됨을 최초로 밝힌 것이다.

국내 연구로 한국인이 미국심장학회 최종 5인에 선정되기는 이번이 처음이다.
