A group of researchers and government officials spanning Africa, Asia and the United States together with Interpol, the international police agency, are trying to track fake drugs and in particular, Malaria drugs using cutting-edge technology. The concern is that the fakes are contributing to the growing problem of resistance. By tracing pollen grains in the drugs or packaging researchers have established that many counterfeits come from China, Vietnam and the Golden Triangle (area where the borders of Laos, Vietnam and Thailand meet).
