A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Dec. 25,enrolled 488 children and teens (age 7 to 17), suffering from anxiety disorders, to receive 14 sessions of cognitive behavioral therapy, sertraline (up to 200 mg per day), a combination of sertraline and cognitive behavioral therapy, or a placebo drug. After a period of 12 weeks, the therapy/drug combination group had a superior response rate.
